Who is Randy Garrett?

Randy was born in Alliance NE, and still lives there today. He is evidence of the old saying, "bloom where you are planted". Randy was always interested in bits and spurs, and was able to start a collection and pursue his interest while owning the western store. Some of the collected spurs are on display at Garrett´s Western Gifts on East Third Street in Alliance. Click on the old spur collection link on the left to see some spurs in his collection. Randy now custom makes a variety of western items and marks his work with the initials "RG" and the appropriate number, usually found on the inside of the band or cheek piece.

"Many of the bits and spurs made were sold before we got a digital camera, so we don´t have pictures of them". A person can now go to the website and see what has been made, and perhaps, get some ideas for their own bit, or spurs. Pictures on the site are samples of some things Randy has made. Customers tell Randy what kind of mouthpiece, or spur shank they want. He then proceeds with the design. He comments that he has had an item complete, looked at it for a few days, didn´t like it, and totally changed it. He refuses to let one of his pieces leave without being satisfied that it meets his standards.

Randy also makes select pieces of jewelry, ranging from turquoise necklaces to cross chokers, and earrings. If you have something in mind, be sure to ask him. Check out the photos on the website, as there are a few jewelry photos included.
